Privacy Policy

Your Privacy Matters: InvertMate is designed with privacy at its core. Your
invertebrate records, photos and logs stay on your device — we never see them,
store them, or share them. The only data leaving your device is what our
advertising provider collects to show ads in the free version, described in
full below.

1. Introduction

Welcome to InvertMate (“we,” “our,” or “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how
we handle information in connection with our mobile application InvertMate (the
“App”), available on Apple’s App Store and Google Play. We are committed to
protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

2. Information We Don’t Collect

We do NOT collect, store, transmit, or share:

Personal information (name, email, phone number, address)
Your location
Your invertebrate care data — feeding logs, watering schedules, molt records,
weights, photos, notes, reminders, wishlist or species information
Any other content you create in the App
Any account information, because InvertMate has no accounts and no sign-in

We operate no servers. There is no InvertMate database of users anywhere.

3. Advertising (Free Version Only)

The free version of InvertMate displays occasional full-screen ads supplied by
Google AdMob. To serve these, Google collects:

Your device’s advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID, or Apple’s
Identifier for Advertisers)
Ad interaction data, such as which ads were shown
General device and network information used for ad delivery

We do not receive this data. It goes to Google, who process it as an
independent controller under the Google Privacy Policy
(https://policies.google.com/privacy).

How to limit or stop this:

Purchase Premium. Premium removes all ads and no ad requests are made.
Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads → Delete advertising ID.
iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and decline when the App
asks for permission to track.
In the EEA, UK and Switzerland: you are shown a consent form on first
launch. You can change your choice any time in InvertMate under
Settings → Privacy Options.

4. How Your Data Is Stored

Everything you create in InvertMate is stored locally on your device:

Android: in the app’s private storage using an on-device database and
preference store. Photos are copied into the app’s private folder. No other
app can read this data.
iOS: in the app’s local store on the device.
iCloud Sync (iOS only, optional): if you enable iCloud in your device
settings, your data may sync across your own Apple devices via Apple’s
iCloud. This is controlled entirely by you and is subject to Apple’s Privacy
Policy. There is no equivalent cloud sync on Android — Android data stays on
the one device unless you export it yourself.

We have no access to data stored on your device or synced through iCloud.

5. Photos and Camera Access

InvertMate may request access to your photos so you can attach images to your
animals and growth journal.

On Android the App uses the system Photo Picker, which means InvertMate never
receives access to your photo library as a whole — only the specific images you
choose. Selected photos are copied into the App’s private storage.

All photos remain on your device. We do not upload, analyse, or process them.

6. Notifications

If you enable notifications, InvertMate sends local reminders for feeding,
watering and custom care tasks. These are scheduled and delivered entirely on
your device. Nothing is sent to any server.

On Android, precise reminder timing requires the “Alarms & reminders”
permission. You can grant or revoke this at any time in your system settings;
without it, reminders may be delayed.

7. Premium Features and Purchases

Premium is an optional purchase that unlocks unlimited animals, Insights,
growth charts, data export, and removes ads.

On iOS, purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store.
On Android, purchases are processed by Google through Google Play
Billing.

We do not collect, see, or store your payment details. We receive only a
purchase confirmation token used to verify your premium status on your device.
Payment handling is governed by Apple’s and Google’s respective privacy
policies.

We use no analytics SDK, no crash reporting service, and no social or
advertising SDK other than AdMob.

9. Data Security

Your records never leave your device, so their security is your device’s
security. We recommend keeping a device passcode or biometric lock enabled and
your operating system up to date. Backup files you export are unencrypted plain
files — store them somewhere you trust.

10. Children’s Privacy

InvertMate is not directed at children under 13. We collect no personal
information from users of any age. Because the free version shows advertising,
we recommend the Premium version for use by children, which makes no ad
requests at all.

11. Data Backup, Export and Deletion

Export: you can export your entire collection as a JSON file at any time.
Backups are compatible between the iOS and Android versions.
Backup: your data is included in your device’s standard system backup if
you have one enabled.
Deletion: deleting an animal removes its logs and photos. Uninstalling
the App removes all InvertMate data from your device permanently. Because we
hold no copy, there is nothing for you to request that we delete.

12. International Users

InvertMate is available worldwide. Your care data never leaves your device.
Advertising data is processed by Google, which may involve transfers outside
your country under Google’s own safeguards.

13. Your Rights

Since we hold no personal data about you, you already have complete control:
access, modify, export and delete everything directly in the App at any time.

For advertising data held by Google, exercise your rights via Google’s Privacy
Policy, or withdraw consent in Settings → Privacy Options (EEA/UK/CH).

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the “Last Updated”
date and post the revised policy here. Material changes will be highlighted in
the App.

15. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

For users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland: we do not process personal data
ourselves. Advertising data is processed on the basis of your consent,
gathered through the Google-certified consent form shown on first launch and
changeable at any time in Settings → Privacy Options. Withdrawing consent
results in non-personalised or no advertising.

16. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

InvertMate does not sell or share personal information for cross-context
behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under California law, and we
collect no personal information ourselves. To limit advertising identifiers,
reset or delete your device’s advertising ID in system settings, or purchase
Premium.
